2018 Racing Classes

The Farrout Slot Car Club is dedicated to enjoying 1/32 scale model car racing based on minimal changes and preparation of “Ready to Run” model slot cars sans magnet traction of any kind.  The current classes are as follows:

  • Le Mans 1949 - 1963 based on RTR cars made by Ninco
  • Le Mans 1964 - 1974 based on RTR cars made by Fly
  • Le Mans / DTM Group 5 1976-1982 based on RTR cars made by Sideways
  • Le Mans Group C / IMSA GTP 1982-1992 based on RTR cars made by Slot.it
  • Le Mans GT 1 1994-1999 based on RTR cars made by Ninco
  • Formula 1 1973-1988 based on RTR cars made by SCX (branded Scalextric in Spain/ SCX outside Spain)
  • 4WD Rally 1982-2016 based on RTR cars made by SCX (branded Scalextric in Spain/ SCX outside Spain)

All cars in all classes must run exactly as originally produced including all OEM parts with the following notations. Anything not mentioned here is probably not allowed:

  • Any braids, wires and bushings may be used, but no ball or roller bearings allowed
  • Tire truing allowed, but all tires must remain in contact with the surface when the car is placed on a flat piece of track
  • Motors may not be opened for tuning or any other purposes
  • Any motor that seems inordinately fast may be disallowed by the Club President without discussion or inspection
  • No magnetic downforce allowed
  • No chemical treatment of tires allowed
  • No modification of chassis or body allowed without specific approval from the Club President
  • Alternative bodies of an appropriate style may be allowed upon specific approval and final inspection by the Club President

Exceptions notes by class:

Le Mans 1949 – 1963 based on RTR cars made by Ninco

  • Must use Ninco NC-1 or NC-8 motor
  • Must use OEM specification Ninco tires
  • Ballast allowed to improve handling

Le Mans 1964 - 1974 based on RTR cars made by Fly

  • Must use OEM motor 18,000 RPM Mabuchi
  • Must use Ortmann urethane rear tires style 49 or 43 for most cars or 43b (Porsche Carrera 6, Ferrari 250LM, Ford MkII) as appropriate (www.rsslotracing.com)
  • Any replacement front tire allowed except silicone or “zero grip” type
  • Ballast allowed to improve handling

Le Mans / DTM Group 5 1976-1982 based on RTR cars made by Sideways

  • Must use OEM specification motor
  • Must use OEM specification tires (which are Slot.it) 

Le Mans GT 1 1994-1999 based on RTR cars made by Ninco

  • Must use BWA NC1 replacement for Ninco NC-1 motor
  • Must use OEM specification Ninco tires

Le Mans Group C / IMSA GTP 1982-1992 based on RTR cars made by Slot.it
  • Must use OEM specification motor
  • Must use Ortmann 51a (recommended), 51 or 51b rear tires (www.rsslotracing.com)

Formula 1 1973-1988 based on RTR cars made by SCX (branded Scalextric in Spain/ SCX outside Spain)

  • Must use OEM style RX motor in “Version 2” state of tune (Pro versions and Suffix versions such as RX-42B, C, D, etc. are not allowed)
  • RX-81 4WD motors may be used after cutting off the front drive section (Pro versions and Suffix versions such as RX-81B, C, D, etc. are not allowed)
  • Must use Ortmann 36d rear tires (www.rsslotracing.com)

4WD Rally based on RTR cars made by SCX (branded Scalextric in Spain/ SCX outside Spain)

  • Must use OEM style RX-81B, RX-81C, RX-81D, RX-91, Pro Turbo 4x4, or Pro Double Rally motor with functional front wheel drive (Newer cars that come with RK motors are allowed if a resistor is used to make them slower than the Pro Double Rally equipped cars)
  • Must use Ninco 19x10 natural rubber rear tires
