We will have 24 meets in 2012 spread over six classes for a total of 42 races. Six events will be 3-hour long-distance team races, the other 18 will run two classes per race meeting, each in shorter four-minute heats, for a total of 42 races.
To rank in each class - and in the Overall Championship - you need to race in roughly 1/3rd of possible class races and more than 2/3rds of them to be able to drop poor race finishes. Given 6 races in each class this means you have to race in 3 races to rank and can drop any races above 5 races in each class. In the Overall Championship you need 15 races to rank and can drop races after you reach 27. In addition to the 6 Class Championships and the Overall Championship there is also a 3-Hour Team Championship comprising one 3-Hour race for each of the six Championship classes.

2012 RANKING AND POINTS STRUCTURE

The Points system will continue to be 20, 18, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 for positions 1 through 18 per round for each race run.
To help make it easier to see where people really stand relative to each other the rankings will be presented as an average of 3 races or, once you have done more than 3 races, the average of the races you have actually run.
