Good turnout of 17 racers which made up 4 teams of 5 (Herrera, Julio and Dale stepping up and running on 2 teams each. Thank you to Walt and Lou for preparing and providing the NSR GT3 Corvette C8.R’s.
We had the closest EVER Team Race with the top 2 teams separated by just 0.6 laps or 0.1% of the winning total of 732 laps. Then third was just 2 laps behind or another 0.3% with fourth, 9 laps behind that or 1.6% from the front! Just a very cool outcome
To give you a sense of how close this was these are the Average lap times for each team across the full 3 hours
– Winner averaged 14.75 seconds a lap
– Second averaged 14.77 seconds a lap, +0.1% vs winning team
– Third averaged 14.81 seconds a lap, +0.3%
– Fourth averaged 14.99 seconds a lap, +1.6%
So next time you race in a Team Race think about the importance of not crashing, versus making super fast laps. I was looking at the crashes and overall I think they cost 3-5 seconds per crash..
