Ninco Le Mans 1949-63

Porsche 356 Coupe Ninco 50178

What You Need To Know – You will need to add weight, remove any magnet and possibly change the motor. Uses NC-1, NC-8 or Predator PRD130-12.5 motor. Oh, and no magnet in case you missed that.

There are 10 core car types and 70+ liveries to choose from

  • Motor: Ninco NC-1 / NC-8 or Predator PRD130-12.5 12,500rpm motors only. All 3 run together in this class, you can choose any one.  Note: some cars came with long-can Ninco motors (Nc-2/NC-5) but all can be easily converted. See Car List Table below for what car came with what motor.
  • Rear Tires: OEM Ninco.  Ninco issued cars with two rear tire sizes, both of which are legal on their respective cars.  The tires are either:
    • Ninco 20x7mm standard ribbed, part number 80503, all cars except two below
    • Ninco 20x9mm standard ribbed, part number 80504, ONLY used on AC Cobra and Jaguar E-Type Roadster
  • Front Tires: OEM Ninco 20x7mm standard ribbed on all cars
  • Wheels front & rear: OEM Ninco 32 spoke classic wheel only on all cars, part number 80706, 80402 only
  • Guide: OEM Ninco either 80104 Standard guide or 80106 Sprung Guide – Prorace guides 80111 and 80112 are illegal.
  • Gears/Axles: OEM Ninco.
    • Note: maximum rear tracking width is 54mm (measured from outside of the tire walls) however, when viewed from above, the tires must not be able to be seen outside the bodywork, including when wheels are pushed side to side.
  • Wires/Braids: OEM Ninco or replace with any brand that works well. Slot.it braid part number SP14 and Slot,it wires part number SP22 work well if items need replacing
  • Bushings: OEM Ninco or use any bushing that works well.
    • No ball-race bearings or offset bushings of any sort are allowed in any class. Slot.it Spherical Bushings CH56 are not allowed
  • Weight: Mandatory – you cannot run any car in the class without at least 5 grams of weight. Weight must not be anywhere on the outside of the body but can be on the bottom of the chassis or inside the body/chassis.
    • Typically we use Professor Motor PMTR1047 0.016” Self-Stick lead.  Suggest you put some Scotch Magic Tape on it to avoid rubbing fingers on lead.
    • Coming Soon: See the images below for examples of how we have placed weight on the successful Loaner Cars
  • Magnet: if present, must be removed and placed on nearest fridge
  • Lights: you are free to add lights (you might get an extra half lap per heat if you add them!)

Eligible Cars – Ninco made 10 core car types and 70+ liveries from which to choose.  Note that the years noted in the class description are a broad guide – we are trying to race front engined/ roadster Le Mans 1950’s early 1960’s.

  • AC Cobra
  • Austin Healey Mk III
  • Chevrolet Corvette
  • Ferrari 166MM
  • Ferrari 250TR
  • Porsche 356
  • Porsche 550 RS
  • Jaguar XK120
  • Jaguar E-type Coupe
  • Jaguar E-Type Roadster

Also eligible are hybrids: defined as any plastic or resin bodied front engined/ roadster Le Mans 1950’s early 1960’s car running on one of the below Ninco chassis/drive-train/wheel/tire combinations..  Any questions ask Stephen, who is the only arbiter on eligibility.

  • The cars must specifically be approved in advance by Stephen (no exceptions and no other person can allow or disallow a hybrid car once it is approved)
  • The chassis must sit flush with the body of the car, as it is with all other class eligible cars
  • The body must at minimum weigh the same as the average of the OEM class eligible cars.  For this class that weight is 19 grams and any makeup weight must be added to the bottom of the driver pan, not the chassis

These cars are no longer in production but can be sourced from internet retailers and eBay. Some of the cars have larger motors (long-can) but they are relatively easy to convert. Use the table below to see what motor the car originally came with.

Pictures of one example from each of the cars eligible in the class, are below this table. Each car part number is an active link to an image of that individual car.
